Entrepreneurial Potential—Opportunities and Challenges Report

The initiative “Integrated Model for Entrepreneurial Development in Urban Centers in Three Regions” is a strategic human resources development project, co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Sectoral Operational Program for Human Resources Development 2007–2013, which is being implemented over a two-year period (Funding Contract No. POSDRU/92/3.1/S/50583). The lead partner of the project is the Association for the Promotion of Business in Romania; partners include: the Center for Research on Interethnic Relations, the LAM Foundation, the Hungarian Business Association in Romania, and the Türr István Képző és Kutató Intézet in Békéscsaba, Hungary.

The project aims to foster an entrepreneurial spirit and enhance the entrepreneurial skills of people in the Northwest, Central, and West development regions. The main idea behind the project was to use a variety of tools to encourage entrepreneurship and employment in urban centers within the targeted regions by creating new businesses and strengthening existing ones. To achieve this objective, the partners devised a comprehensive solution consisting of interdependent and complementary actions, which we refer to as an integrated model of entrepreneurial development. Our focus is not only on the importance of creating new businesses, but also on supporting those entrepreneurs who have launched and already operate a functioning business or independent venture, but who require professional training and/or support from experts in the field of entrepreneurial development to become increasingly competitive.
