The MERIT project brings together expertise and resources from Bihor and Hajdú-Bihar counties to strengthen the response capacity of healthcare systems in emergency and disaster situations. Through modern training, state-of-the-art equipment, and cross-border collaboration, MERIT is helping to train a generation of medical professionals prepared to act quickly and effectively where it matters most—in saving lives.
The objective of the project is to develop the skills of physicians and future physicians in providing advanced life support, both in prehospital settings and within intensive care units and emergency departments.
The project aims to provide specialized training for 400 medical students and 60 doctors, equipping medical centers in Oradea and Debrecen with modern equipment, implementing a joint Bihor–Hajdú-Bihar action plan, and promoting cross-border collaboration in the field of emergency medicine.
The MERIT Partnership brings together organizations with experience and a strong reputation in the field of medical education and professional training. The partnership is led by the Association for Business Promotion in Romania
(APPAR), which has extensive experience in managing projects funded by the European Union. Joining APPAR are the University of Oradea and the University of Debrecen, prestigious academic institutions dedicated to excellence in medical education and international collaboration, as well as the University of Debrecen’s Special Medical Team (DEKOM), which is recognized for its expertise in rapid medical response and preparedness for emergencies and disasters. Together, these partners are transforming the cross-border region into a model of cooperation and excellence in emergency medicine, based on training, technology, and professional solidarity.
